Performance Evaluation of Full Array, Sub-Array and Overlapped-Sub-Array Hybrid Beamforming Architectures for Massive Mimo Systems

The technological advancement in wireless communication, promises high data rate for end users. This has led to the possibility of smart cities, inter connected vehicles, and virtual reality applications. One recent technologies communication is massive MIMO where large number antennas are deployed at transmitter or receiver. possible due use mmWave communication. With MIMO, beamforming technique can be employed system. Beamforming ability system direct power intended users cancel non-intended thus significantly improving performance. Digital was initially used systems. However, systems it leads consumption dedicated radio frequency chain each antenna. To address this challenge, hybrid techniques were introduced. There three architectures beamforming: Fully array architecture (FAA), overlapped sub-array (OSA) (SAA). paper analysed performance parameters mentioned architectures. simulation results show that, FAA outage probability spectral efficiency. its energy efficiency lower compared OSA SAA. Specifically, SAA highest comparison OSA. It also observed with only 25% increased elements OSA, slightly SAA, while achieving appreciable respect FAA. Additionally, work derived an expression, which not been covered most studies. study gives insight selecting best based on requirement.
